There’s something quietly profound about the moments we often overlook—the way afternoon light filters through kitchen windows during the chaos of dinner prep, how a child’s laughter sounds when they’re wholly unselfconscious, or the tender glance between partners that holds an entire conversation without words. These are the moments that tell our truest stories, and they’re the reason Folks Photography exists.

If you know me, you know I’m a self-proclaimed serial hobbyist. I’ve always been someone who dives headlong into new interests, curious about different ways to create and connect. But photography? Photography was different. It wasn’t just another hobby—it became a language for something I’d been trying to express my whole life.
I started with a camera and a simple desire: to capture my own families fleeting moments. As a girl mom, I was acutely aware of how quickly time moves, how the tiny hands that reach for yours one day seem impossibly bigger the next. I wanted to hold onto those in-between moments, the ones that slip through our fingers even as we live them.
What began as documenting my own family’s story slowly transformed into something more. Friends would ask me to photograph their families. Then couples preparing for weddings. Then business owners wanting to show the heart behind their brands. Each session taught me that everyone craves the same thing: to be seen, understood, and remembered as they truly are.
I realized that photography, for me, wasn’t about creating perfect poses or magazine-worthy compositions. It was about creating space—space for people to simply exist together, without pressure or expectation. Space for genuine connection to unfold. Space for the quiet beauty that lives in ordinary moments to reveal itself.

Here in Western PA, where I’m based and where my heart is rooted, I’ve learned that the most meaningful photographs don’t come from forcing moments. They come from observing them. From slowing down enough to notice the small gestures and shared glances that carry the weight of love and history.
I approach every session with this intention: to create an environment of trust and comfort where families and couples can be fully present. Because that’s when the magic happens—not in the performance, but in the permission to just be.
The little things? They’re everything. The way your partner’s eyes crinkle when they laugh at your jokes. How your children naturally gravitate toward each other, even in their squabbles. The comfortable silence that speaks to years of companionship. These quiet moments, these fleeting sparks—they deserve to be turned into lasting light.
The name Folks Photography came from a deep belief that everyone’s story matters. “Folks” is intentionally inclusive, warm, and unpretentious. It’s a reminder that we’re all in this together—navigating our lives, building our families, creating our legacies in big ways and small.
I wanted a name that felt like an invitation, not an exclusive club. Because that’s what this work is to me: an ongoing invitation to witness and honor the authentic stories unfolding all around us.

Every person who sits in front of my lens brings their own unique story—their own collection of little things that make their life beautiful. My job isn’t to manufacture moments or create something that doesn’t exist. My job is to see what’s already there and preserve it with intention and care.
Whether I’m photographing a family navigating the beautiful chaos of raising young children, a couple celebrating decades together, seniors stepping into their next chapter, or business owners sharing the heart behind their work, the approach remains the same: observe, connect, and document with authenticity.

Every session, every family, every love story I’m invited to witness reinforces why I started this work. It’s not just about creating beautiful images (though we do that too). It’s about creating an experience where people feel seen, valued, and comfortable being exactly who they are.
Because at the end of the day, that’s where the real beauty lives—not in perfection, but in authenticity. Not in what we think we should be, but in who we actually are when we give ourselves permission to simply exist together.
