This shoot perfectly embodies what I love most about maternity photography: capturing the beautiful anticipation of becoming parents, that precious in-between moment before everything changes forever. The Austins are expecting their first baby, and we ventured out into a snowy Preston Park to document this magical chapter before their little one makes his grand entrance.

The Experience

I’ve known Abbie since college – one of those friend-of-a-friend connections that never quite developed into regular hangouts back then. But spending an afternoon with her and her husband in the snow? I could have talked to them for hours! There’s something about the calm before a baby arrives that makes people so present and reflective, and our conversations flowed as naturally as the falling snow around us.

And can I just say? These two should be models. Seriously. They were absolute naturals in front of the camera – moving through the snowy landscape like they’d done this a thousand times before. Abbie’s dress choice was perfection for showcasing her baby belly, elegant and flowing in a way that celebrated this beautiful stage. Her second outfit was equally chic and fun, proving that maternity style doesn’t have to sacrifice personality.

We found the sweetest spots throughout Preston Park – by the frozen pond that looked like something from a winter fairytale, among the pine trees dusted with snow. No matter where we were, the Austins had that undeniable pregnancy glow. You know the one – that mix of joy, anticipation, and the quiet knowledge that you’re about to meet someone who will change your entire world.
