When autumn leaves meet apple trees, and a little boy discovers the wonder of grass – magic happens.
This shoot perfectly embodies what I love most about family photography: capturing real life as it unfolds, in all its beautiful, unscripted glory. The Raynauds spent a perfect fall afternoon at the orchard, and I got to tag along to document the sweetness – both the literal apples and the figurative moments that make a family session feel like pure gold.
Create an authentic collection of images that capture the Raynauds doing what they do best – being together, exploring, and enjoying the simple pleasure of a fall day. The result? A gallery that feels less like a photo shoot and more like flipping through memories of the best autumn afternoon, complete with apple picking, grass discoveries, and all the in-between moments that make family life so rich.
Fall is my absolute favorite season for sessions, and this orchard adventure was everything I love about it. While we wandered through the rows of apple trees, Teddy was in his element – happily exploring every corner of the orchard, absolutely fascinated by the grass beneath his feet. Watching him discover the world while his parents soaked in these fleeting moments reminded me that the best photos don’t need elaborate poses or forced smiles. Sometimes magic is just a family being themselves, doing an activity they love, while I capture the authentic connection at their core.
And can we talk about Lindsey’s styling? Hunter boots and a classic boat and tote bag that were both gorgeous and perfectly functional for apple picking. She understood the assignment – looking effortlessly put-together while being completely practical. And Teddy’s little apple overalls? The cherry on top of an already perfect fall aesthetic.

A gallery full of images that capture the Raynauds exactly as they are – a family who knows how to be present with each other, who finds joy in simple activities, and who creates beauty just by being themselves. These photos tell the story of an autumn afternoon well spent, of a little boy’s wonder at the world, and of parents savoring these precious early years.
This shoot reminds me why I’m such a advocate for activity-based sessions – when families are engaged in something they actually enjoy doing together, the real moments flow naturally. No stiff poses, no forced smiles, just genuine connection and the sweet simplicity of being together.
Sometimes the best family photos happen when you’re just living your life – picking apples, exploring grass, wearing the perfect fall boots, and soaking in an afternoon that feels like everything good about autumn wrapped into one golden session.
